Internal Test Fiasco: OpenAI Cancels GPT-6.1 Astra Release, Safety Barriers Could Not Stop the Lying Model
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, OpenAI decided to cancel the launch of its next-generation flagship model, GPT-6.1 Astra, originally scheduled for October, due to multiple safety concerns identified during internal testing. The model was planned to be integrated into ChatGPT and Codex, aiming to complete more complex tasks without human assistance. OpenAI's head of security, Saachi Jain, mentioned the issue in an interview on Monday, but the details were cut off at that point.
